So I am reading a blog that contained a few links to someone's ecommerce website. As I am reviewing the website there are a few things that concern me. For one, the "contact" page only has an email form...to compare, go to http://www.georgiagiftsforless.com/, where you will a telephone number prominently displayed, as well as an email address specifc to their own domain. On a sidenote, the owner is "one of us", so feel free to support! Secondly, the "Verisign" certification is not a linked image...to compare, click this verified link for "Wirefly", and scroll to the bottom for their Verisign certificate, and click on it. You will notice that a pop-up window opens that confirms that per Verisign, the websites identify has been verified.
I am not saying that these sites I have looked at are fake or anything, but given what I know about what websites are required to have and how these tools are suppossed to work, I personally would not trust them. I would caution others not to trust them either if I were to be asked.
If you have an ecommerce website that does not contain these items in the proper way, take a second look at what you need to do to get compliant and build trust with your clients!
